A picture a day

What have you done to remember the past 6 years? You may have kept a journal (in a nice binded book, on scraps of receipts, online with a visitor tracker or online with a password). You may have used a video camera. You may have taken photographs. How many?

He took one a day from January 11, 2000 to July 31, 2006. He has such sad eyes. Or he is staring too hard into the lens. Listening to the music, I am kinda afraid that the ending may be nasty. Not horror film nasty. But sad nasty. Do not worry. The video may have ended in 2006, he is alive and still doing the same thing everyday. I think the concept is not his own. Does anyone know which movie is it adapted from?

And yes, you’re right. I am entertained.

I cannot even keep track of yesterday. And I love The Simpsons.

Happy holidays everyone. I had a great evening – cooking and force-feeding a family who hates non-Chinese food.

Friday and out.

I’ve a window seat in the office. For years, I have never looked out of it. I mean really look out of it and stare into the vast row of trees in the far end of sight. Today I did just that. Maybe it is the rain. Maybe it is the shady cloud. Maybe it’s the oncoming trickle of jumbo jets. Or maybe it was the song that has been ringing in my mind for the past 24 hours. Outside seems like a place I want to be, permanently.

I have had too many pieces of biscotti. I enjoy watching it sink, float, absorb and finally sink again in the cup of hot Milo.

I think I have a physical condition. Ill or not, too early and too lazy to find out. But it is really bothering me.

Books and lack of

Do you enjoy celebrity blogs? Rather, blogs maintained by TV/movie celebrities, then and now. I have just read one by a local celebrity. Her entries are pretty decent. Probably because she is no longer in the limelight. Shrug, not likely to remember to read it again. I’m too lazy to follow someone’s life these days. Probably because I’m too lazy to get of bed and not spend my entire Saturday on the mattress.

Anyway back to topic. I need to read, desperately. I strongly believe that my lack of direction and focus is due to lack of stimulation. So I went to Kinokuniya and the national library today. The latter is closed, permanently. It’s quite a strange feeling to see white pieces of paper wallpapered onto the glass panels. The former is a Christmas nightmare. Why do people wrap the books with the store gift wrapper? They look like house bricks with old newspapers stuck onto them.

Note to anyone who wants to buy me a book for Christmas, don’t bother to wrap. I will love you more.

Incidentally – I read anything but romance. Surprise me!

Flying on an alert

Besides sitcoms, my favorite genre of TV shows has to be investigative documentary. NatGeo‘s Air crash investigation and Seconds from disaster are among the top highlights. I have since become more tuned to the aircraft and the people onboard the craft. I pick my seats carefully and look out for unsafe acts. The knowledge from the shows has been a pretty big hit in social conversations as well!

Of course, no one wants to ever encounter what they have shown in the shows. But I cannot contain my excitement!

In my most recent trip back to Singapore (i.e. yesterday) from China, I finally experienced my first missed approach! This is absolutely ahead of the time in Japan when the aircraft’s internal battery went dead or the time when the lady tried to use text messaging at 25,000ft. Oddly enough, I was rather smug when the pilot calmly informed the passengers about the situation as I had sensed that there was a problem when I felt the landing gear extending and retracting. At one point, it even felt jammed.

Now that I’m back on solid ground, I almost want to go back into the air. This is despite ziplocking 100ml bottles 4 times in 2 weeks.

Be the lowest bidder!

It’s an odd concept. Tatarah.com.sg offers high end auctions1 and the lowest unique bidder wins! Simply put, you can get really lucky.

Apparently there is a bidding strategy involved. Unfortunately there are no tips. Unlike ebay or yahoo, you cannot see the bids placed by other people. Best bet is really just your best bet. Processing fee per bid applies.

I’m testing my luck with one item. Pray!

Save the feathers

I have never thought I will be proud that my shoe collection is almost exclusively from Nine West and Enzo Angiolini. They are on PETA’s list of compassionate merchants who use alternative material. Of course they do use cow hide now and then. Nobody’s perfect!

Having said that, I am still on the fence on the claim that “animals are not ours to eat”. Rather, I’m unsure of the purpose and effect on an individual’s resolution of turning from real meat to soya products that are made to look like real meat.

So if you’re into chicken, in particular KFC, maybe you should not view this video.
